PERRY, Sidney James

No.5955828, Private, Sidney James PERRY
Aged 23

1st Battalion, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment
Killed in Action on Friday, 5th February 1943

Sidney James Perry was born in 1920 ( possibly Dunmow Q1-1920 4A:2117), son of James and Hilda Maud PERRY (née BEARD), of Lode.
This is the only birth registration that seems possible, but his Army Roll of Honour says he was born in Cambridgeshire, not Essex. His parents' marriage was registered in Newmarket in 1919 as you would expect for living in Lode.

In the 1939 register, at Cambridge Road, Lode, were his father James [4-4-1895] farm worker; mother Hilda M [20-3-1898]; brothers Arthur W [27-3-1921] a farm worker, George S [3-3-1923] apprentice cabinet maker and Norman C [9-2-1931].

The battalion were involved with the Chindits later in the war, but as yet have not found where they were in February 1943
